ENGLISH BELOW.

ENGLISH

James. Tough as nails? Better believe it :-)

Americans complete extreme race in honour of Jens and Aase
My good online friend James Armstrong, whom I hope to meet in real life one fine day, is one of the coolest people I know.

Completely without knowing us four Danes in PRT Chaghcharan he and his friends sent us all kinds of neat and encouraging items during our deployment in Afghanistan. Simply because these civilian citizens don't differentiate between their compatriots and allied troops: we all fight for the same cause, they say, and all deserve support. Also props to Linda Carter and Koda Conner for individually doing the same!

Touching
I found and find this touching, and apart from that, the stuff we got was really awesome! Homemade woolly hats, e.g., were damn useful when the temperature started falling below -22 degrees F, up in the mountains where we were. And me being a huge fan of movie director and comic book writer Kevin Smith, it was beyond great to receive autographed albums that James had acquired through a friend.

James is apparently strong as a bull and each year completes a lot of triathlons and equally crazy events. Typically, he does this commemorating the memory of fallen soldiers - and God knows we have had so sadly many of those - and several times honouring our Danish colleagues lost in Afghanistan.

In honour of Jens and Aase
Notice writing on arms!

A while ago James asked me if there was anyone particularly close to me that I felt should get this attention. Who other than Jens and Aase, then? Now it has been done, as you can see in the screen dump from James's Facebook wall.

Rest in peace, Jens and Aase - and THANK YOU, James. This means so much to me and many others.
